Tasty Crochet - the book!

Last week I got my first advance copy of Tasty Crochet: A Pantry Full of Patterns for 33 Yummy Treats Let me tell you, I was so excited when I finally had that book in my grubby little paws! I'd been waiting for that moment for a year...and I wasn't disappointed. North Light did such an amazing job with the book...the photos are great and the layout and mood is fun and silly just like I'd imagined.

I couldn't decide which picture I liked best for this blog post. I threw in the carrot because, unlike me, it is quite photogenic. The goal was to draw attention away from my goofy grin, but I think that I may need to crochet a face cozy and become the 'Stealth Crocheter' of teh intarwebs :D

Just a little over a month, and Tasty Crochet will be available everywhere! The official date is 3/1/2009 (if I'm not mistaken...sometimes important details get lost in the mush of my Mommy brain). I hope everyone has as much fun making the foodies in my book as I did!!

  5. Patty, single crochet is the main stitch in all of the projects, so you should be good to go :)

  6. I cannot put this book down!! My neck is actually sore from crocheting so much this weekend because I HAVE to make everything in this book. I made the apple first and it was so darn cute I followed it with a salami sandwich, chicken drumstick, two sushi rolls, pumpkin pie and an ice cream sandwich. I can't wait to get home and start another project! Thanks for a great book, Rose.

  10. Bought _Tasty Crochet_ yesterday and just found your blog after Googling.

Anyone can crochet a red ball and call it an apple, but the variety of shapes you use (irregular, tapering, boxy) really made your designs stand out when I was browsing at the bookstore. Kudos to the photographer and stylist, too--even if your patterns weren't included, it could almost be a whimsical art book.

I'm looking forward to expanding my 3-D crochet skills beyond simple, regular orbs!

  11. I LOVE your book! I found it on another crochet blog, ran to my library to get it, have drooled over the library copy for 2 weeks, and am eager to buy a copy for myself--and my two "hooker" friends!

  12. How easy would it be for a very good knitter to knit one of your apples using your crocheted apple as a basis. I am not a knitter or crocheter, but my friend is. Her daughter's last name is McIntosh, and she is constantly knitting apple-related things for her new baby.
BTW, your new book looks so good, I may just take up crochet myself!

  13. Hi Ann! Thanks for the compliment. You should definitely take up crochet - it's lots of fun!

I'm not sure how well my pattern would translate to knit. I'll have to try sometime to find out.

In the meantime, I found a link for a knit apple pattern for you. It looks pretty simple and very modifiable.

  15. I found your blog after getting this book on amazon. I put it in and out of my cart and wish list at least a dozen times. I'm not a very experienced crocheter and have only followed one pattern sucessfully to completion (if you consider 3 sizes too small "sucessfully). I finally got the book and in the week I've had it I've made (totally sucessfully) a piece of bread, a cookie, a blob of grape jelly and a piece of pie! And they all look great! So close to the pictures in the books! Not bad for someone who has trouble with "beginner" patterns. Your book has given me confidence to try other patterns. If you come out with any other books (like toys...hint hint), let me know! I will definently buy.

  16. I found this book before Christmas and made a selection for my niece's birthday at the end of May, we had breakfast in bed and had so much fun!
Love the patterns, you need a Tasty Crochet part two!
